Billy Crudup receives his second Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama

Billy Crudup won his second Emmy on Sunday night for his role in Apple TV+’s The morning show.

The 56-year-old actor took the stage to accept the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 2024 Emmys and immediately praised his wife, fellow Emmy nominee Naomi Watts. “I'm happy to be here with my showstopper,” Crudup began his speech.

“My wife, who also happens to be an immigrant, also gave a blistering performance, which she's nominated for, and she's also starting companies, so it's nice to be by her side,” he continued. Watts is nominated for best actress in a limited series or anthology for her role as Babe Paley in FX's “The Last Man.” Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

After his victory, Crudup responded wittily to the press when asked if he and Watts had competed against each other. “We're pretty competitive, but like Scrabble,” he joked.

Crudup also took the time to thank “the writers and educators” who allowed him to create a work that was beyond his level. He also took the time to thank those who worked behind the scenes on the show and offered a heartfelt farewell message to his colleagues. “This process has been incredible for me,” he began. “I hope everyone else involved knows how much it means to me.”

Crudup also noted that he and his character had nothing in common. “There's no Billy in there,” he said. “Billy, as you can see, is sweaty and stumbling over words.”

Sunday night’s victory is Crudup’s second for his work on The morning showThe actor last won in 2020.
