Topeka man arrested for meth possession after traffic stop on Saturday

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) – A Topeka man was arrested for meth possession following a traffic stop on Saturday, September 14.

According to Sheriff Brian C. Hill, a 54-year-old man is in custody and is charged with possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop last night near NW Topeka Boulevard and NW 24 Highway.

Shortly after 8 p.m., a Deputy/Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) with the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a green Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck with an obscured license plate near NW Topeka Boulevard and NW 24 Highway.

During the investigation, illegal drugs were seized.

Robert L. Brooks II, 54, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.

Brooks II was arrested on the following charges:

  • Possession of opiates, opium, narcotics or certain stimulants
  • Use/possession of drug paraphernalia with the intention of introducing it into the human body

There was also an arrest warrant out for Brooks from the city of Topeka.

This incident is still under investigation.
