Remembering Tito Jackson: A Silent Legend of the Jackson 5 – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Tito Jackson, a member of the legendary Jackson 5 and a key figure in one of the most famous families in the music world, has died at the age of 70.

Tito Jackson, born Toriano Adaryll Jackson, is considered the quiet but steady force behind the Jackson 5 and contributed to the group's groundbreaking success. Along with his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and the inimitable Michael, Tito shaped the sound of Motown in the late '60s and early '70s with hits such as “Blame It On the Boogie,” “I Want You Back,” and “ABC.”

Although Tito often remained in the background compared to his more flamboyant siblings, his contributions were crucial. His rhythm guitar skills added depth to the group's sound and his steady presence helped maintain unity throughout the group's meteoric rise and turbulent times.

Jackson's death was confirmed by his family in a statement. “Tito was a beloved brother, father and friend and his loss leaves a tremendous void,” the statement said. “We ask for privacy as we mourn the passing of our beloved family member.”

While his brothers launched solo careers, Tito went his own way, dabbling in blues music and later performing with his band, the Tito Jackson Blues Band. His solo work showed a different side of his artistry, rooted in deep emotion and a love of playing the guitar.

Already scarred by great loss, including the tragic death of Michael Jackson in 2009, the Jackson family now faces another heartbreaking chapter. Fans around the world are paying tribute to Tito Jackson's legacy on social media, remembering him not only as a member of the Jackson 5, but as a pivotal figure in their own musical journey.
