Trump says he is 'safe' after shots fired near him

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is safe after gunfire fired near him, his campaign and the U.S. Secret Service said Sunday, but no further details were released.

According to the White House, the incident occurred at the Trump International Golf Course, where the former president was playing golf.

“The Secret Service, in collaboration with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, is investigating a security incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m.,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.
