Rakul Preet Singh reveals Bollywood stylists charge between Rs 15,000 and Rs 100,000 for an event and an outfit: ‘Life in Mumbai requires a lot of PR’ | Hindi Movie News

Actor Rakul Preet Singh, who has worked primarily in the Telugu and Hindi film industries, feels that one needs a high level of self-discipline in the film industry because there are many people, including the actor's entourage, who can constantly give you advice. Rakul was a guest on the Beer Biceps podcast, where the host addressed a remark made by filmmaker Rohit Shetty some time ago that it is difficult to make multi-starrer films these days because young actors are so influenced by their entourage.
When asked if the actors' environment makes her insecure, Rakul replied, “Yes, you are right. You have to be stupid to believe everything you hear. Many people will give you different advice, but you have to use your own mind. What Rohit sir said is probably right. In the South, the old system of a single manager is still in place. You don't have a huge environment; you don't have ten people telling you what is good for your position and what is not.”
She added: “It's important to listen to them and respect them. You know what they're saying, but do what you think is right. As an actor, your actions become public, so you have to be responsible for yourself.”
Rakul Preet shared how she connects with her colleagues over food and sports rather than gossip and that these things play a key role in her life. She said, “You are the person you surround yourself with. You spend more time with your core team – hairdresser, make-up artist, spot boy – so it's important to know what energy they have. I don't want to listen to gossip at 7am in the morning, I'm not interested in knowing about other people's lives.”
Bollywood is a “different beast,” says Rakul Preet Singh, who made her Hindi film debut with Yaariyaan in 2014. She explained that working and living in Mumbai is much “PRVisibility, positioning and brands,” which she eventually learned.
The actress added: “I didn't know during the promotions that I needed a stylist. I found out just before I started my promotions and thought, 'My God, this is so expensive!' That was 12 years ago now. Stylists Food is expensive, it can be anywhere from 15,000 to 100,000 rupees for an event, an outfit. You learn from all these things.”
On the work front, Rakul Preet will next be seen in the much-awaited film 'Indian 2', in which she will be seen alongside Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan. She is also planning 'De De Pyaar De 2' with Ajay Devgn.
