Lincoln man arrested after pickup truck gets stuck on railroad tracks | KLIN

According to Lincoln police, a 33-year-old man left a trail of destruction early Monday morning. It began around 12:45 a.m. near NW 55th and West Paul Street. “A 27-year-old woman was inside her home when she heard a loud noise outside,” says Captain Todd Kocian.

“She looked at the video from her Ring doorbell and observed a silver truck strike two other vehicles and then leave the scene heading south on NW 55th Street.” Kocian says about 30 minutes later, officers responded to the Burlington Northern Railyard near 8th and West 'O' Streets because a silver truck had driven onto the tracks and stalled.

“Arriving officers found a silver Ford F250 pickup truck with severe damage, two tires had come off the rims,” said Kocian. Police found 33-year-old Zachary Scully in the driver's seat. BNSF employees determined that the tracks had been damaged by the truck driving on them. “The broken-down truck was also blocking a railroad line, forcing two tracks to be closed, delaying normal operations,” said Kocian.

After Scully showed signs of impairment, police began a DUI investigation. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of .137. He was arrested for first-time DUI and resisting prosecution. Scully was also charged with obstructing a police officer, marijuana possession, driving while license suspended, hit and run, and reckless driving and was released.

Kocian says a hit-and-run crash totaled a Ford Escape and caused $6,000 in damage to a 2024 Infinity G35.
