Kamala Harris will visit Madison in Wisconsin this week

MADISON – Vice President Kamala Harris will hold a rally in Madison early Friday evening, her campaign team confirmed Monday.

The Democratic presidential candidate's return to Wisconsin is part of a tour of the “Blue Wall” swing states, which also include Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Harris is scheduled to participate in a fireside chat hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia on Tuesday, followed by a Unite for America livestream event with Oprah Winfrey in Michigan on Thursday and the event in Madison on Friday.

The latest shift in course follows the campaign's “New Way Forward” tour and the only scheduled debate between Harris and former Republican President Donald Trump. The campaign is scheduled to host events “in every media market in every key swing state in just four days.”

Madison last hosted a presidential campaign rally in July, when President Joe Biden visited Sherman Middle School. After his debate against former Republican President Donald Trump, he faced calls from within his own ranks to abandon his candidacy for re-election.

The state capital has also been the site of huge rallies by former Democratic President Barack Obama, including a 2012 visit with an introduction by Bruce Springsteen.

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance will also be coming to Wisconsin again this week. On Tuesday, he will make a campaign stop in Eau Claire. For the U.S. senator from Ohio, it will be the second stop in Eau Claire – and the fifth trip to the state – since Trump named him his running mate during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July.

Harris's running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, campaigned in Wausau on Friday and held a rally in Superior on Saturday.

A new Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday showed Harris leading Trump by four percentage points.

It also showed that Harris was leading among the most enthusiastic voters for the first time, while Trump held that lead when President Joe Biden was still in the race and in the early days of Harris' own campaign.
