42-year-old woman shot dead in Snohomish County; 19-year-old suspect dies in police chase

A 42-year-old woman was shot and killed in Arlington on Sunday. The 19-year-old man suspected of killing her died while trying to flee from police.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Washington – According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), a 42-year-old woman was shot and killed in Arlington Sunday afternoon.

The 19-year-old suspected of killing her died in Lake Stevens while trying to flee from police.

On Sunday around 2:30 p.m., SCSO officers were called to the 1900 block of 200th Street Northeast for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the 42-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers performed life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Major Crimes Unit investigators learned that a verbal altercation had occurred between the victim and a 19-year-old male suspect prior to the shooting. The suspect then fired several shots at the victim, police said.

The 19-year-old fled in a car after officers arrived at the scene. SCSO officers began pursuing the man at around 2:45 p.m.

Officers initiated a PIT maneuver on the suspect's car, which caused him to be ejected from his vehicle. Officers attempted to render life-saving aid, but the man died at the scene, according to the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART).

The identities of the 42-year-old woman and the 19-year-old man will be released by the Snohomish County Coroner's Office.

SMART is investigating the crash.
