The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, but lost one of their best offensive players in running back Isiah Pacheco, who left the stadium in walking boots after suffering a lower leg injury. Pacheco will be placed on the injured list, according to Jonathan Jones, NFL insider at CBS Sports, and will apparently be out for more than the four-game minimum.

Pacheco has sustained a fibula injury and is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks, according to ESPN.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid did not give reporters many more details at his press conference on Monday afternoon. “We're going to go with the guys we have now,” Reid said, via The Athletic. “I don't have a timetable for [his return]. It's going to take a little time.” He added, however, that general manager Brett Veach would look into adding another running back to the roster.

Pacheco led the Chiefs with 90 rushing yards on Sunday before leaving the team, but he was seen on crutches after Kansas City's 26-25 win.

The two-time Super Bowl-winning running back has been a key part of Kansas City's offense since arriving as a seventh-round draft pick in 2022, rushing for over 1,100 yards in 2023. Considered one of the game's most physical ball carriers, he will likely be replaced by veteran journeyman Samaje Perine, who only joined the team in August, and undrafted rookie Carson Steele, who also played fullback this preseason.

The Chiefs also have former first-round draft pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the roster, but he will be out until at least Week 4 due to his illness on the Non-Football Illness List (NFI).
