Brevard bus driver arrested for choking student, police say – WFTV

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A bus driver in Brevard County was arrested after assaulting a student on the way to school, according to Melbourne police.

On Monday, officers responded to the call at the South Alternative Learning Center after being notified of an incident on a Brevard County school bus.

The investigation revealed that on the way to the learning center, the bus driver stopped the bus, pushed a 12-year-old student onto a seat and put his hands around his neck.

According to police, several students witnessed the attack and the incident was recorded on video from the bus.

William Green, 59, was arrested for child abuse without serious bodily harm. School district security has been notified of this incident and is cooperating with the investigation.

Brevard Public Schools issued the following statement:

“ALC transportation is under the jurisdiction of Brevard Public Schools (BPS). We are aware of the alleged assault of the student by the bus driver. Law enforcement is investigating. BPS will take appropriate disciplinary action based on the results of the police investigation. Please contact the Melbourne Police Department for more information.”
