The San Francisco 49ers are having no luck on the injury front.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan offered no news in his press conference immediately following Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

In a conference call with reporters on Monday, Shanahan said that wide receiver Deebo Samuel strained a calf in Week 2 and will be out for several weeks.

Samuel has been extremely active in the 49ers' first two games with running back Christian McCaffrey out. He has 13 catches for 164 yards, including eight for 110 yards in San Francisco's Week 2 loss. Samuel also has 13 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. He has caught 29.2 percent of the team's passes through the first two games.

With the 2021 All-Pro out, the 49ers desperately need 2023 All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. In two games, Aiyuk has just six catches for 71 yards.

If Samuel is out for just two weeks, he would miss the 49ers' Week 3 game against the Rams in Los Angeles and their Week 4 home game against the New England Patriots.
