17-year-old on motorcycle killed in accident with dump truck in Flagler County

FLAGLER COUNTY, Florida. – Police said a 17-year-old boy riding a motorized bicycle was killed in an accident with a dump truck on Monday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 4:18 p.m. at the intersection of Belle Terre Parkway and Pine Grove Drive in the Palm Coast area.

Police said a dump truck driven by a 51-year-old Pierson man was stopped at a stop sign on Pine Grove Drive east of Belle Terre Parkway.

According to an accident report, the boy was riding the motorized bicycle south on the east sidewalk of Belle Terre Parkway, north of Pine Grove Drive.

The dump truck accelerated at the stop sign and collided with the front of the truck carrying the boy on the bicycle, the FHP said.

Police said the truck dragged the boy and the bike onto Belle Terre Parkway after the collision.

According to FHP, the dump truck driver stopped his vehicle in the median of Belle Terre Parkway, north of Pine Grove Drive.

The police did not say whether the child died at the scene of the accident or in the hospital.
