Jane's Addiction apologizes for the stage fight between Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro in Boston

Jane's Addiction have apologized after canceling an upcoming show following an onstage brawl in Boston.

On Friday evening, the American band canceled their performance after frontman Perry Farrell hit guitarist David Navarro.

They were scheduled to play in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Sunday as part of their reunion tour, but that appearance has now been canceled.

“We would like to express our deepest apologies to our fans for the events of last night,” the band wrote on Instagram on Saturday.

“For this reason, we will cancel the show tomorrow night in Bridgeport.”

The band insisted that fans be compensated.

Social media videos showed Farrell yelling at and hitting 57-year-old Navarro.

The 65-year-old rocker was subsequently detained by staff and led off the stage at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston.

Jane's Addiction was formed in Los Angeles in 1985. The band consists of Farrell, Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery.

They have reunited after more than a decade and will perform a series of concerts in the US and Canada in the coming months.

There is no confirmation whether these shows will still take place.

The band released four albums together: Nothing's Shocking (1988), Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990), Strays (2003) and The Great Escape Artist (2011).

Their hits include “Been Caught Stealing,” “Strays,” and “The Great Escape Artist.”

The rockers were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013.
