Jane's Addiction cancel remaining tour dates after on-stage brawl

The American band Jane's Addiction has cancelled the remaining dates of their tour, days after a brawl on stage in BostonMassachusetts.

On Friday night, the Los Angeles-based band canceled their performance after frontman Perry Farrell punched guitarist David Navarro.

In a statement posted on social media on Monday, the band said they had “made the difficult decision to take a break as a group.”

The band has also stated that refunds for the cancelled dates will be made at the point of purchase.

The band had twelve more shows to play across the United States before the tour was canceled and ended in their hometown on October 16.

Footage of Friday night's performance posted on social media shows Farrell, 65, yelling at and hitting Navarro, 57, before being restrained by staff and led off the stage at Boston's Leader Bank Pavilion.

According to Farrell's wife Etty, there was increasing “tension and hostility” between the band members “night after night” in the run-up to the incident.

She added that Farrell was frustrated with the volume at which the band was playing.

Jane's Addiction was founded in Los Angeles in 1985 and is considered one of the successful groups of the early alternative rock scene.

The band consists of Farrell, Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery.

They recently reunited after more than a decade apart.

Her hits include the songs “Just Because,” “Been Caught Stealing,” and “True Nature.”

The rockers released four albums together: Nothing's Shocking (1988), Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990), Strays (2003) and The Great Escape Artist (2011).

In 2013, the band was honored with a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame.
