Sean P. Diddy Combs, 54, was arrested Monday in New York City following months of sexual assault allegations, lawsuits and a federal investigation that ultimately led to an indictment by a grand jury.

“Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, a self-made entrepreneur, a loving family man and a proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children and advocating for the advancement of the black community,” his legal team said in a statement quoted by the NYT. “He is an imperfect human being, but he is not a criminal.”
