Salvadoran non-citizen accused of sex crimes against child arrested on Nantucket, faces deportation – Boston News, Weather, Sports

NANTUCKET, MASS. (WHDH) – A Salvadoran man accused of raping a child on Nantucket faces deportation.

Last week, immigration officials from Boston's Enforcement and Removal Operations agency arrested 28-year-old Bryan Aldana-Arevalo.

In July, he was arrested by authorities on the island of Nantucket and charged with rape of a child with a 10-year age difference and two counts of sexual assault and battery of a child under the age of 14. He was released on bail at the end of the same month.

“Aldana-Arevalo is accused of some heinous and disturbing crimes against a Nantucket child,” Todd M. Lyons, director of ERO's Boston field office, said in a statement. “He poses a significant danger to the children of our Massachusetts communities. ERO Boston will not tolerate such a threat to the most vulnerable of our population. We will continue to put the safety of our public first by arresting and removing egregious, non-citizen offenders from our New England neighborhoods.”

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he entered the United States illegally on an unknown date and at an unknown location without being examined, admitted, or paroled by a U.S. immigration officer.”

When Aldana-Arevalo was arrested last week, he received a summons to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge. He remains in ERO custody.
