Six people, including three children, hospitalized after accident involving school bus and dump truck in Hialeah

HIALEAH, Florida. – Five people, including two children, were taken to area hospitals after a school bus and a dump truck collided in a Hialeah neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. at the corner of East First Avenue and 60th Street.

A Hialeah Fire Department spokesman said three people in the truck were injured; two were ejected and one had to be pulled from the vehicle. They were flown by helicopter to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

According to HFD, there were 15 children and a driver on the bus; all suffered minor injuries and three children were taken to Nicklaus Children's Hospital as a precaution.

A video from Sky 10 shows both vehicles crashing into a residential fence. The Florida Highway Patrol was also on site and assisted the Hialeah police, who were investigating the accident.

The bus bears the markings of F. Couceiro School Bus Inc., a Hialeah-based company licensed by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The authorities have not yet provided any information as to whether the cause of the crash and the question of liability have been clarified.
