I-70 eastbound will remain closed until Tuesday evening

About ten kilometers east of Glenwood Springs, a truck crashed on I-70 at around 9:30 a.m. The road remains closed to eastbound traffic.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, Interstate 70 eastbound through Glenwood Canyon is closed due to a tractor-trailer crash around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The truck was traveling west when it crashed through the guardrail and landed on the lower eastbound lane.

Westbound traffic is permitted to pass through the area, which is located about ten kilometers east of Glenwood Springs.



The closure is in effect indefinitely and travelers are asked to take the detour route north along Colorado Highway 13, then along US Highway 40 through Steamboat Springs and down to Colorado Highway 9 through Silverthorne.

The diversion will remain in place until Tuesday 11:00 p.m.
