Edit: Anthony Quick is now scheduled for a plea and arraignment hearing in HSC Circuit Court on October 8th at 9am.

A local felon with a long criminal history has been charged in connection with an alleged double murder that occurred in Rockport in May.

Anthony Garland Quick, 40, of a Malvern address, is currently being held at the Hot Spring County Detention Center on $950,000 bail. He will have a guilty plea and arraignment hearing in HSC Circuit Court on October 8 at 9 a.m.

Quick is charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated residential burglary in connection with the deaths of Shelby Montgomery and Alana Holmes – a Class Y felony punishable by a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.

According to the accompanying affidavit, Montgomery and Holmes were found dead by local authorities on the evening of May 28 in a home at 2655 Sand Road in Rockport.

Montgomery and Holmes were identified as victims of a fatal shooting, and two 9mm shell casings were found at the scene. Police say there were no signs of a forced entry into the home. Information later obtained by authorities, as well as incriminating statements Quick made to investigators, led to the murder charge.

Quick also faces a sentencing enhancement charge for habitual criminal conduct, as evidenced by several prior convictions for robbery in 2002 and 2013, second-degree domestic violence in 2012, second-degree assault in 2014 and 2018, first-degree terroristic threatening and aggravated assault in 2013, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon by an incarcerated person.

Quick has been in custody since May 31 after he was charged with fleeing, theft of a motor vehicle, criminal damage, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop by Malvern police. He also faces a charge of grand theft by receiving stolen property after authorities stopped him in a stolen vehicle on May 8.
