Classes resume the day after the school bus crash in Random Lake

Classes resumed in Random Lake on Tuesday after an SUV collided with a school bus, injuring eleven people, most of them students.

The school district administration said it has trained staff ready to speak with groups and individual students, and support includes additional mental health professionals on site for as long as needed.

At the time of the accident, 36 students from Random Lake were riding Bus 17 at the intersection of Highway E and Jay Road.

Eight students were injured. Their injuries ranged from minor to severe. The bus driver, another driver and their passenger were also injured.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff says sun and fog may have played a role.

TMJ4 News returned to the intersection Tuesday morning around the same time the accident occurred and found there was blinding sunlight and fog.

State data shows there have been three accidents at the same intersection this year.
