Video shows social media model walking away after fatal car crash in Miami – NBC 6 South Florida

New surveillance footage shows a social media model's Mercedes speeding down a downtown Miami street as she walks away from the scene of a crash that left two people dead and leaves her facing drunken manslaughter charges.

The video, obtained by NBC6 on Tuesday, shows the moments immediately before and after the fatal Aug. 10 car crash in which 24-year-old Maecee Marie Lathers faces 10 counts, including negligent homicide, reckless driving and driving without a license causing personal injury.

The accident occurred at the intersection of N. Miami Avenue and N. 8th Street when Lathers crashed her white Mercedes into a black Range Rover and a silver Suzuki, according to police, killing Abraham Molina and Jesus Rubio.

The video shows the Mercedes speeding down N Miami Avenue immediately before the crash. It also shows a woman, who police say is Lather, walking away from the scene of the crash and sitting on the sidewalk.

Later, she appears to follow a group of runners running back in the direction of the crash.

Records show that Lathers attempted to leave the scene of the accident without helping or calling 911, but passersby confronted her.

Police bodycam footage showed Lathers lying facedown on the ground, topless, screaming and vomiting at the scene. Prosecutors said a toxicology report showed a number of drugs in her system.

Excerpts from police bodycam footage show police officers reacting to self-proclaimed social media model Maecee Marie Lathers after she allegedly caused a fatal accident while under the influence of “pink cocaine” (Tusi).

Lathers told police she was on the drugs “Tusi,” also known as “pink cocaine,” a party drug that typically consists of ketamine and other substances, officials said.

Arrest records show that Lathers was traveling about 57 mph with the accelerator pedal at 100 percent five seconds before the crash. When the car collided with another vehicle, it accelerated to 78 mph, records show.
