Ewing was charged with possession of a handgun as a convicted felon, evading arrest, and theft of a firearm valued at less than $2,500. Following his arrest in February 2024, the United States Marshals Service announced that warrants for second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder had been issued against Ewing.

The case centered on the fatal shooting of Tomanuel Benson, brother of Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta, on August 18, 2023. Benson was found shot to death at a BP gas station on South Parkway East. A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting, and Ewing was eventually caught after a foot chase along Creighton Avenue.
