Police search for man accused of breaking and attempting to break into several homes on Ben Hur Road

BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge police are searching for a man who broke into several homes in apartment complexes along Ben Hur Road on Monday.

The man attempted to break into a home at 777 Tradition and later entered an apartment in Redpoint Baton Rouge BRPD Cpl. Saundra Watts said they have not yet determined a motive and responded to the two separate incidents within minutes.

“The questions of whether he specifically targeted women, a particular apartment or a particular population group remain unanswered at this point,” Watts said.

Residents said they saw the suspect get into a silver-gray sedan with a dent on the driver's side. Cpl. Watts said both apartments were full of college students.

“We know that there are many students living in this area. Make sure you keep your apartment windows and doors locked. If your window and/or door locks are broken, contact your property manager to have the problem fixed.”

Police warn residents and others not to confront the suspect if they encounter him and urge them to call police immediately.
