Aaron Boone subtly pokes fun at the Red Sox over Alex Cora's comments about throwing to Aaron Judge

MLB has launched a brief investigation into recent comments made by Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora in which he suggested that pitcher Brayan Bello may have intentionally thrown at (or behind) New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge during this weekend's game.

Ultimately, MLB decided against disciplining Cora or the Red Sox for the September 14 incident.

When asked why Cora got off scot-free, Yankees captain Aaron Boone said he had already moved on from the incident and was looking to the future, but he didn't hesitate to throw in a subtle remark about his team's arch-rival.

“I feel like this weekend is over. We probably won't play them again this year. There are too many important things ahead of us to really focus on,” Boone said, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Boston is currently the underdog in the wild-card race, four games behind the Minnesota Twins for the final postseason spot in the American League. The Yankees, meanwhile, are three games ahead at the top of the AL East. Boone made it clear that New York is solely focused on making the World Series, not on a feud with a team that likely won't even be playing in October.

During the game that sparked the feud, Gerrit Cole hit Rafael Devers with a pitch in the first inning before intentionally walking the Red Sox batter on his next at-bat. Cora felt this was a sign that Cole was intentionally hitting Devers to avoid a pitch against him. In the sixth inning of the same game, Bello threw a pitch that landed behind Judge. MLB investigated the incident following Cora's postgame comments, suggesting that Bello's actions were intentional, though it ultimately concluded that no wrongdoing occurred.
