Michael Jordan's Illinois mansion under contract after 12 years on the market

Michael Jordan's mansion in Illinois is finally for sale.

Jordan's home in Highland Park, Illinois, was sold on Sunday after being on the market for 12 years, real estate agent Katherine Malkin confirmed to The athleteThe house was last listed for $14,855,000; the original asking price when it was listed for sale in 2012 was $29 million, according to Zillow. The actual sale price is unclear.

The 2.8-acre property features a putting green, tennis court, circular pool and standard-size basketball court. The 3,000-square-foot home, which sits on a 2.8-acre lot, includes nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms (15 full), a library, an office and a 14-car garage, according to Zillow. The property's front gate features a giant “23,” the jersey number Jordan wore for most of his career.

Jordan built the house in 1995 during his time with the Chicago Bulls and had it extensively remodeled in 2009, according to the listing on Zillow. He played 13 seasons with the Bulls from 1984 to 1998, excluding the 1993-94 season when he gave up basketball to play minor league baseball, and led Chicago to six NBA titles.

Jordan retired from the NBA in 1998, but returned in 2001 and played two seasons with the Washington Wizards before retiring for good. In 2010, Jordan became majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats – now the Hornets – paying $275 million for the franchise. Last summer, he sold his majority share to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall.

Jordan also owns the NASCAR team 23XI with three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin.
