2 people steal subway train, operate it and cause an accident – ​​NBC New York

Two people sneaked onto an empty train at a Queens subway station and briefly operated it before crashing, causing damage to the locomotive, according to police.

Police released images (above) of the suspects, a man and a woman, after they somehow boarded the empty train at the Briarwood subway station shortly after midnight Thursday. After boarding the train, police say, the two briefly operated the train, causing a collision.

Although the theft caused damage to the train, no injuries were reported.

The couple ran away immediately afterward. The man was last seen wearing a blue tank top, red shorts and carrying a black backpack, police said. The woman was seen on surveillance video wearing a pink shower cap, pink sleeveless shirt, pink shorts and carrying a pink purse.

It was not immediately clear how the couple got into the empty subway and how they managed to operate it.
