Massage therapist arrested in San Diego for sexual assault

Three women have come forward and police believe there may be more victims.

SAN DIEGO – Three women say they were sexually assaulted during a massage by Scott Christopher Preston, owner of 360 Wellness and Consulting.

San Diego police spoke about the arrest Tuesday afternoon to alert the public. Investigators believe there may be more victims. CBS 8 also confirmed that Preston worked as a football coach at UC High School.

“At this point we have three victims,” said SDPD Lieutenant Dan Sayasane.

Preston, who performed under the name Chris, gave massages at a now-vacated location in the Miramar area. Police say concerns about his behavior were first reported to them in August 2023.

“The investigator working on the case spoke with the victim at that point and she moved out of state,” Lt. Sayasane said. “She did not want to pursue prosecution any further.”

He said they received a second complaint in December from another woman who also did not want to press charges, and then a third woman came forward in April.

“A woman reported that she was sexually assaulted and groped at this store,” said Lt. Sayasane. “Our detective noticed the similarities in the cases and saw that the suspect, the alleged suspect, was the same person and put all the cases together.”

Preston was arrested near the UC High campus on Wednesday and now faces five charges. Police say he advertised his services with a deal on Groupon in order to have lots of customers, leading to fears there could be more victims.

“Since the suspect has been operating this type of business since 2018, we suspect there may be additional victims and we would like those individuals to come forward if they are involved.”

Lt. Sayasane also said Preston should never have been allowed to sell massages in the first place.

“Nothing in our records indicates that he has a license,” he said.

The principal of University City High School sent a note to parents on Tuesday confirming Preston's arrest, adding, “The employee has been placed on unpaid leave and is no longer associated with our school.”
