Man arrested in Tulsa for brandishing a gun while attempting to steal lemonade

Tulsa police have arrested a convicted felon accused of brandishing a gun while attempting to steal two cases of Mountain Dew from Walmart.

Officers said Nathan Gabbert used the store's self-checkout counter near the corner of Admiral and Memorial but did not pay for the drinks.

After security stopped him and asked him to pay, he went back inside, pretended to pay, and then allegedly pulled out his gun.

Security arrested him outside. Tulsa police said having security on site is extremely helpful in dealing with store crime.

“If someone tries to steal at the checkout and we can't get to it, that's a lower priority, no one is in danger, but the security and asset protection measures that Walmart offers really help us a lot,” said Danny Bean of the Tulsa Police Department.

Records show that Gabbert has also previously been convicted of serious crimes, including assault on a police officer.
