Tori Spelling says Brian Austin Green told her to join 'DWTS'

While several Beverly Hills, 90210 The actors made the jump to Dancing with the stars Over the years, Tori Spelling has revealed that she only sought advice from a former co-star before signing on for the upcoming 33rd season of the show.

“The only person I told was Brian Austin Green. I called him and said, 'Okay, what do you think?' And he said – in his own words – 'abso-f–ing-lutely,'” she said. Entertainment Weekly ata press release for the series. “I was like, 'Really?' He said, 'It's grueling. It's hard work. It's going to be one of the best experiences of your life.'”

Green took part in the 30th season of Dancing with the starswhere he and his partner, now fiancée Sharna Burgess, finished 13th. Before him Beverly Hills Former alumni Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering and the late Shannen Doherty also appeared on the show.

Spelling noted that she had texted Green about the show the night before the live cast reveal. Good morning America“I thought to myself, 'Tomorrow is the day. Then everyone will know,'” she recalls. “And he said, 'This is going to be an incredible experience for you and I'm really proud of you.'”

The actress also got some advice from Burgess, who starred as a professional on the show for 14 seasons.

“Sharna and I are good friends and I turned to her and said, 'You know me and my personality and what I can and can't do, so clear it up,'” Spelling said. “She literally analyzed all the dance professionals and who she thought – and she loves all of them – would be the best fit for her. [for me]and she literally thought, Pascha [Pashkov].”

And as fate would have it, Pashkov turned out to be her partner on the show. The pair had danced their way through two rehearsals in front of the press – although Pashkov was admittedly a little starstruck at first.

“When Tory came in, I was like, 'Oh my God. I literally had your face on my TV screen my whole childhood,'” he said. “I grew up in the '90s, so it was a surreal moment. Now it's crazy that we're getting to know each other. And on this show, you don't just get to know each other, you get to know each other. Get to knowYou know what I mean?”

He continued: “You go through hours of grueling hard work together, ups and downs, mistakes, wins, losses – you experience everything, so you really get to know each other inside and out. It's kind of surreal, honestly, to just have the character from TV and now you know the person inside and out. It's incredible.”

Rehearsals also went well. “We started little by little, one day at a time, but in less than two weeks we all have a premiere, so we have no choice but to push and prepare,” he added. “In less than two weeks we will be able to dance in front of millions of viewers!”

Pashkov also praised Spelling's commitment to the series. “Tori was so dedicated, so focused,” he said. “She has five kids, she has so much on her plate, but she's there and for those two hours I have her full intent, her full commitment, her full focus and attention. I couldn't ask for anything more.”

Dancing with the stars Season 33 will premiere on September 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, with episodes available to stream on Hulu the next day.
