Ambulance overturns in crash on Roosevelt Boulevard, injuring three people – NBC10 Philadelphia

Three paramedics were injured when the ambulance they were in was struck and flipped on its side in a crash early Wednesday on Roosevelt Boulevard in North Philadelphia, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. when an ambulance was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Whitaker Avenue and was struck by a vehicle that ran a red light.

The impact caused the ambulance to roll over onto its side. The three paramedics inside the vehicle were injured in the accident, officials said.

According to police officials, there were no patients in the ambulance at the time of the accident and the paramedics only suffered minor injuries.

According to police officials, the driver of the car that hit the ambulance refused treatment on site.

The road at this intersection was closed for nearly two hours due to the accident, but was reopened around 6 a.m.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, officials said.
