Diddy is accused of armed kidnapping in an attempt to blow up Kid Cudi's car

Diddy is said to have carried out an armed kidnapping in order to blow up Kid Cudi's car after finding out that he was dating his ex-girlfriend Cassie.

The controversial bad boy boss was charged with sex trafficking, organized crime and transportation for the purpose of prostitution in New York on Tuesday (September 17). Court documents reveal further details about his alleged crimes.

In a 16-page brief arguing why Diddy should remain in jail without bail until the start of his trial (which the judge approved), federal prosecutors claim that the hip-hop mogul and an accomplice once robbed a victim at gunpoint when they broke into Cudi's home.

“In the early hours of 22 December 2011, the defendant [Diddy] and a co-conspirator kidnapped one person at gunpoint in order to break into another person's residence ('Person 1'),” it states. “Several witnesses would testify in court about the events surrounding the kidnapping and burglary, the latter of which is corroborated by police reports and other records.”

The letter goes on to discuss the arson: “Approximately two weeks later, the defendant's accomplices set fire to Person-1's vehicle by cutting open the top of the car and throwing a Molotov cocktail into the interior. Police and fire department records document the arson in detail and conclude that the fire was deliberately set.”

Prosecutors add that several witnesses are willing to testify in court that Diddy “bragged[ed] about his role” in the destruction of the car.

Although Kid Cudi is not mentioned by name in the document or in the actual indictment, the details match the allegations in the sexual assault lawsuit Cassie filed in November 2023 that launched the case against Diddy.

In her lawsuit, which was quickly settled, the R&B singer claimed that she had “a brief relationship” with Cudi during a “difficult period” in her ten-year relationship with Puffy (real name Sean Combs).

The record executive reportedly became “furious” after learning of their affair and lunged at Cassie with a corkscrew between his fingers. She claimed he later planned to blow up Cudi's car.

“In February 2012, during Paris Fashion Week, Mr. Combs said to Ms. Ventura [Cassie] that he wanted to blow up Kid Cudi's car and wanted to make sure Kid Cudi was home with his friends when it happened,” the lawsuit states. “It was around that time that Kid Cudi's car exploded in his driveway.”

A spokesperson for the “Day 'N' Nite” rapper confirmed Cassie’s report to The New York Times after the lawsuit was filed and said, “This is all true.”

The alleged arson is one of several organized crime offenses cited in the indictment against Diddy, which accuses him of emotionally, verbally, physically and sexually abusing women for more than a decade while running a criminal enterprise that helped him commit and cover up his wrongdoing.

At the heart of the case are the mogul’s alleged “freak offs,” which are described as “elaborate and staged sex performances” that [Diddy] arranged, directed, masturbated during and often electronically recorded.”

He is accused of using drugs, violence, threats and blackmail to force women to participate in these freak-offs. He is also accused of hiring male sex workers and transporting them across national borders and abroad to have sex with the women.

The indictment states that during raids on Diddy's homes in Los Angeles and Miami in March, federal agents seized various pieces of evidence from the freak attacks, including footage of the sexual performances in question and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant.

The record executive has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison.
