Coroner confirms identities of sisters involved in murder and suicide

The Chatham County Coroner's Office has confirmed the identities of the two sisters who were found at a residence in the 100 block of Windfield Drive near Isle of Hope around 5:30 p.m. on September 15.

In a telephone conversation, Chatham Coroner David Campbell Sr. confirmed the identities of the deceased as Deborah Hudson, 71, and Deloris Hooker, 70.

Chatham County Police had previously confirmed that the women were sisters who apparently died in a subsequent murder.

Witnesses at the scene said the women were sisters and that one of the sisters entered the home and shot the other before turning the gun on herself, the CCPD press release said.
