Over 21,000 hectares of land in Southern California are burning

The Bridge Fire has burned over 21,800 hectares of land and is only 9% contained, according to officials.

At 2:27 a.m. local time on Monday, three firefighters were injured while trying to contain the bridge fire that broke out on Sept. 8. Since then, 54 buildings have been destroyed and 13 damaged, according to a post by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Moderate temperatures benefited firefighters on Sunday and they were able to begin setting up direct containment lines.

“The northwest side of the fire remains the most active,” Cal Fire said. “Firefighters focused on direct attack along the edge of the fire with response teams of fire trucks, hand crews and aircraft to protect the communities of Big Pines, Piñon Hills and other areas to the northwest.”
