Suspect arrested in Temple for 2021 Austin murder

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) – A suspect wanted in a 2021 Austin murder was arrested in Temple last week.

22-year-old Mithovar Antoine Jr. is accused of premeditated murder.

On July 23, 2021, Austin police received a call from a victim who said he had been stabbed.

The victim, later identified as Nikolas Eugenio Martinez, drove himself to a nearby convenience store in the 2000 block of South IH 35, where several people attempted to help him, police said.

Shortly thereafter, officers arrived at the scene and found Martinez with a life-threatening stab wound.

Life-saving measures were administered to Martinez, but police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On July 24, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Martinez and determined the cause of death was a stab wound to the neck, according to police. Martinez's death was ruled a homicide.

On September 11, 2024, according to police, an arrest warrant was issued against Antonie for premeditated murder.

The following day, officers found Antonie in the temple and arrested him on a murder warrant.

Antonie was booked into the Bell County Jail on $150,000 bail, but was released on September 16.
