Couple arrested after physical altercation at middle school football game

LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) – A couple was arrested Tuesday following a physical altercation at a Wilson County middle school, according to the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.

James H. Brewer, 34, and Jessi L. Harris, 34, both of Hartsville, were charged with disturbing the peace and assault. Harris is also charged with public intoxication.

WCSO said the altercation began as a verbal argument but quickly escalated into a physical altercation. School security quickly intervened to de-escalate the situation.

Officers from the Wilson County Sheriff's Office and the Lebanon Police Department were also dispatched to assist with crowd control.

Initial investigations on site identified Brewer and Harris as the suspected attackers.

The couple was arrested and taken to the Wilson County Correctional Facility. They have since been released on bail.

The fight occurred at the end of a football game between Winfree Bryant Middle School and Satterfield Middle School in Hartsville.

“The Wilson County Sheriff's Office takes incidents of this nature seriously. Threatening or violent behavior, especially at family-oriented events such as school plays, will not be tolerated,” WCSO said. “We encourage all participants to be respectful and considerate of others.”
