No. 6 Volleyball loses to No. 2 Stanford

PALO ALTO, California – No. 6 Texas Volleyball was swept by No. 2 Stanford 25-16, 25-21 and 25-22 in front of 6,894 spectators at Maples Pavilion on Sunday.

The Longhorns (3-3) will face Baylor again on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.

Madisen Skinner led the Longhorns with 12 kills and added seven digs and two blocks. Ella Swindle gave 24 assists, while Emma Holder finished the game with 11 digs, the highest on his team. Ayden Ames added six kills and had the most blocks on the team with five.

Stanford built up a big lead in the first set and won the game comfortably 25-16. The Cardinal hit .433 while the Longhorns had a hitting percentage of just .171.

The Cardinal took a 2-0 lead with a 25-21 win in the second set. The Longhorns held Stanford to a .184 hitting percentage in the set, but could not match it in the game.

The Longhorns led 7-5 in the third set before Stanford went on a 9-1 run to take a commanding 14-8 lead. The Cardinal took the win with a 25-22 victory.

Texas' next home game is Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Hawaii at Gregory Gym.
