Sterling High School stabbing: Curfew lifted after student stabbed during fight at school; suspect arrested, Houston ISD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A Sterling High School student is in the hospital after being stabbed during a fight on campus Wednesday morning, the school said.

Houston ISD confirmed the incident and said the school was placed on lockdown. That lockdown has since been lifted.

The district said the stabbing occurred around 10 a.m. during a fight between two students at the school.

The suspect, also a student at Sterling High School, is in custody.

HISD said the stabbing victim was taken to the hospital and is conscious, but the student's condition is unknown.

“The weapon was confiscated and no other students were injured during this incident,” the district said in a statement. “After the curfew is lifted, students may be released to a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians who reported to the Morefield Boys and Girls Club Sunrise Center will be directed to the Sterling campus to pick up their child. Those who arrive at campus will check in with on-site staff and their child will be dismissed. For students who are not picked up, the school day will continue as scheduled.”

It is unclear what the students were arguing about.
