Santa Monica Police Request Information to Investigate Homicide Near Reed Park

Less than two weeks ago, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) was called to the 1100 block of 6th Court when a body was discovered in the early morning hours of Friday, September 6th.

Residents in the area said the body was found with a stab wound to the chest. SMPD Lt. Erika Aklufi said the victim appeared to be homeless, but other than that, very little is known about the alleged murder.

In a recent social media post, the SMPD stated: “We are asking the public for assistance in obtaining surveillance material.”

Specifically, the police department is looking for:
Video surveillance of the building exterior
Dashcam recordings or recordings from vehicles with recording function

According to PD, the footage of interest dates from September 6, 2024, between 2 and 4 a.m., in the area between Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard and between Washington Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard.

“Your cooperation can be instrumental in assisting this investigation,” the SMPD said.

If you have any information that may assist in this investigation, please contact Detective Zamfirov at the SMPD at (310) 458-8398.
