According to police, a 15-year-old girl was involved in a fight with a classmate that ended with the fatal shooting of her father, 47-year-old Johnny Stevenson.

It happened near NW 14th Street and NW 1st Court near their bus stop.

The victim's daughter said the altercation began with a verbal argument with a girl on the bus.

“She sprayed me with pepper spray. And after she sprayed me, we started fighting,” said the victim's daughter.

Then the girl said she was spat on.

The fight was captured on cellphone video. The girl told CBS News Miami she called her father and said he tried to step in to protect her when a young man intervened in the altercation.

Stevenson's daughter tells us he was shot in the stomach.

“I saw my father out of the corner of my eye. I saw him fall. I wasn't really thinking. I see him lying on the ground, I'm putting pressure on his stomach. My mother comes to put pressure on his stomach.”

Stevenson was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

His family tells us that he was a devoted father to all his 14 children and was well known in the community.

“I mean, so many people loved him,” said Arnold Lloyd, Stevenson’s uncle.
