Man and 2 teens arrested after torture and assault in Branford: Police – NBC Connecticut

Warning: Details in this story may be disturbing.

Three people have been arrested in connection with a violent attack that occurred in Branford earlier this month.

Police said a man and two juveniles lured the victim to a remote wooded area where they were held against their will for about three hours. Authorities said they were subjected to a series of brutal and heinous acts.

The victim was physically attacked, slashed, set on fire, pistol-whipped and sexually abused, police said. This torture resulted in serious injuries.

Police said they became aware of the incident, which occurred on Sept. 1, after receiving information about a video that captured part of the incident. Officers found a crime scene and the victim was later found at a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

A man, 22-year-old Avante Ryan of Hartford, and two 17-year-olds were arrested and face a number of charges.

The three are accused of first-degree sexual assault, assault, cruelty to persons, robbery, kidnapping with a firearm, endangering a child and more. They are each being held on $1 million bail.

The police assume that this was an isolated incident. The investigation is still ongoing.
