Oneonta man arrested for throwing feces at correctional officer

ONEONTA (WBNG) — The Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest and charging of an Oneonta man with assault on a correctional officer.

An investigation revealed that Antonia Almodovar, 29, began behaving disorderly at the Otsego County Correctional Facility on September 17, ignoring requests from correctional officers to stop.

Almodovar responded combatively, and during the altercation a correctional officer sustained an injury that required medical treatment at Bassett Hospital.

The next day, Almodovar again acted in a disruptive manner and poured bodily fluids on another officer, the Otsego County Sheriff's Office said.

He was charged with second-degree assault, aggravated harassment of an employee and third-degree assault.

Officials returned Almodovar to the correctional facility to await arraignment.

After consultation with the Otsego County District Attorney's Office, bail of $10,000 cash was recommended.
