Police: Chicago man charged with attempted murder of 14-year-old

A 23-year-old Chicago man is behind bars in connection with a South Side shooting that left a teenager injured.

According to Chicago police, Mario Sanders is accused of attempted murder.

He was arrested Sept. 17 in the 4900 block of South Laflin Street after being identified as a suspect in a July 26 shooting, police said.

The shooting occurred shortly before 4:15 p.m. in the 5300 block of S. Marshfield Avenue.

According to police, Sanders shot and injured a 14-year-old boy during the incident. Further details on the youth's condition were not released.

Sanders was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on September 19.
