44th Crop Hunger Walk in New Bern to combat food shortages

It is time to take action to end hunger.

The 44th annual New Bern Area Crop Hunger Walk is in less than two weeks.

This year, the money raised will benefit Religious Community Services and Church World Services to combat food insecurity.

The walk will take place on Sunday, September 29, at Union Point Park in downtown New Bern.

Registration begins this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. and the walk begins at 3:00 p.m.

Last year, more than 500 runners raised $45,000.

You can choose between a one-mile or three-mile course. There is an after-party after the race.

Matt McCotter, RCS Director of Development and Mission Support, says: “So be sure to bring your family and your children. We will have face painting, a bouncy castle, food and live music. It will be a really great time of food and socialising.”

A donation of $20 is suggested when registering for the race.

You can sign up as an individual or invite family and friends to join your team.
