PAWLET, Vermont (WCAX) – A Vermont community is in mourning as city officials investigate a triple homicide in Pawlet.

According to police, Brian Crossman (46), member of the Pawlet Select Board, his wife Erica (41) and Erica's son Colin Taft (13) were found shot to death early Sunday morning.

According to police, no one is currently in custody.

However, sources told WCAX News that police have identified a suspect who is a relative of the victims.

At the Pawlet Select Board meeting on Tuesday evening, Chairman Mike Beecher opened the meeting by reading a statement in honor of Brian Crossman.

“Brian Crossman was a friend and neighbor, a hard-working member of the community who just joined the Pawlet Select Board this year. This tragedy that struck him and his family has also hit our community very hard. We are all shocked and grieving. Our condolences go out to all those affected by this devastating loss,” Beecher said.

Flowers were laid in the place where Crossman usually sat.

Police say the murder investigation is still ongoing.
