Three people arrested for hours-long kidnapping and torture in a forest in Branford

BRANFORD, CT (WFSB) – Three people were arrested for kidnapping and torturing a person in a wooded area in Branford.

According to police, the three suspects, 22-year-old Avante Ryan and two 17-year-olds, lured the victim to a remote location on September 1, where they were held against their will for about three hours.

During this time, the victim was physically assaulted, slashed, set on fire, pistol-whipped, and sexually assaulted, sustaining serious injuries in the incident.

Police became aware of the incident after receiving information about a video that captured part of the attack.

The officers managed to locate the suspects and arrest them without incident.

She was charged with a number of charges, including first-degree assault, cruelty to persons, first-degree child abduction with a firearm, and endangering a child.

Her bail is set at $1 million, and Ryan is scheduled to appear in New Haven court on Thursday.

The police said this was an isolated incident.
