Fresno police sergeant arrested for attempted sexual assault of child

Fresno Police announced Wednesday that Sergeant Paige McQuay was arrested.

The 56-year-old sergeant was arrested after Roseville police issued a felony warrant for his arrest.

The sergeant was booked into the Fresno County Jail and charged with attempted lewd behavior with a child and communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a crime.

“Sergeant McQuay has been with the Fresno Police Department since December 1993,” police said in a statement. “He has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal investigation.”

The criminal investigation was initiated and conducted by the Roseville Police Department, with the full cooperation of the Fresno Police Department.

Fresno Acting Police Chief Mindy Casto will hold a live press conference at police headquarters on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
