Podcast bro Jon Lovett was voted out for the first time at Premiere

The latest premiere episode of the reality TV star Survivors– still going strong in season 47 – was certainly not the mic-drop moment Jon Lovett had hoped for: The co-host of “Pod Save America” was the first player to be eliminated.

Although he was by no means the first public figure, SurvivorsLovett now has the dubious honor of being the casting stunt that crashed and burned the hardest/fastest. (In confessionals and promotional interviews, Lovett referred to himself as a longtime fan of the show, but still.)

Survivors Moderator Jeff Probst had touted Lovett, a former Obama speechwriter, in an interview before the show as “one of the greatest storytellers we will ever have.” Weekly entertainmentbut he barely had time to turn the first page. It wasn't so much “Lovett or leave it” as “Lovett and leave it.” Despite a chaotic nervous breakdown (technically multiple nervous breakdowns) by one of his tribemates, Lovett was unanimously voted out at the first Tribal Council of the season.

“Nobody thinks they're going to be the first to go,” Lovett said in an interview after the premiere aired – and his elimination. “When you take a risk, sometimes things don't go the way you want them to, but that's why they call it a risk.”
