Trial date set for Groveton woman accused of shooting death of boyfriend

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) – A hearing was held Thursday in the case of a Groveton woman accused of murdering her boyfriend in 2022.

Amanda Scogin Reynolds, 49, was charged with murder in Angelina County after she said she shot her boyfriend, John Carnahan, during a physical altercation on September 15, 2022.

According to reports, a Hudson police officer stopped the suspect for speeding and noticed blood on her clothing. When questioned, Reynolds allegedly admitted to shooting Carnahan and led officers to her home, where they found him dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

During Thursday's hearing, a trial date for Reynolds' case was set for May 5, 2025.
