Kenwood High School student attacked, suspect arrested: police

ESSEX, MD – Officials say a student at Kenwood High School in Essex was attacked and hospitalized Wednesday, prompting the school to close.

Police announced Thursday that they had arrested the 16-year-old suspect and charged him as an adult on Wednesday evening. Officials did not release the name of the arrested man “due to the suspect's age.”

Authorities said they were notified about the robbery around 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Stemmers Run Road, which is on the same block as the school.
