Georgia man arrested at BWI for child abuse

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested a Georgia man wanted for child abuse at Baltimore–Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the CBP field office in Baltimore said Thursday.

Daniel Coronado, 54, of Alpharetta, Georgia, was arrested at BWI on Monday after arriving on a flight from Cancun, Mexico, CBP officials said.

Officials did not disclose which flight Coronado was on or when he arrived at the airport.

CBP officers compared the flight's international passenger manifest with the National Crime Information Center and determined there was an outstanding warrant for Coronado's arrest, the agency said.

After confirming that the warrant was active and Forsyth County, Georgia, was seeking extradition, officers arrested Coronado and transported him to a detention center in Anne Arundel County.

Coronado remains detained at the Jennifer Road Detention Center, according to online records. He has been assigned a public defender in his fugitive trial in Anne Arundel County District Court, according to online records.

CBP's mission allows it to “assist our law enforcement partners by apprehending suspected dangerous individuals wanted on very serious charges of endangering minors,” said Adam Rottman, CBP's port director for the Port of Baltimore, in a statement.

Customs and Border Protection arrested an average of 44 wanted persons per day in the 2023 fiscal year, the agency said.
